When you’re in the office and you have a question, what do you do?

You might think, “Hmm, who’s around?” or “I wonder who I can ask about this?”

But what happens when you have a remote team? What happens if they’re global?

When you need input from someone, they might be asleep, or hanging with their family, or doing focused work — but instead, they’re getting messages from you, like:

‘No need to respond, but when you get a chance could you maybe…’

As I'm sure you're realising, if you can’t move work forward when your colleagues aren’t available, you’re in trouble...

We call this The Availability Trap and it’s one of six dysfunctional dynamics we see again and again in remote teams.

We examine each of these dynamics in our course, Remote Ready. And, if you take it, you'll explore what you can do about them, plus the hallmarks of great remote working teams and other cool things.

After watching the videos, one student said:

'You know when you can't grasp something until it has a name? You've named our issues. I now feel empowered to make changes.'
